About the course

Are you interested in running your own SIPP and ISA’s? We will be looking at Global Macro and its effect on all asset classes. What is pertinent to medium/long term investors now? How do we express these themes into a portfolio? We will be looking at individual shares, Exchange Traded Funds (ETF’s) and Investment Trusts.
A key aim is to understand the thought process of an investor and be able to apply it. Time will be spent showing where to source information to build up your financial knowledge. Please note, this is not a course about short-term trading, and we won’t be discussing cryptocurrencies.

• Students who successfully complete this course will be able to:
• Understand and interpret the Global Macro picture
• Analyse the options open to private investors for long term investing
• Build up their financial markets knowledge
• Improve their investment decision making

Course Syllabus:

• Four interactive 90-minute sessions
• Look at the present Global Macro picture – the major themes this year
• Discuss the outlook for equities, fixed income markets, FX and commodities
• Look at investing ideas/themes in the market today
• Discuss when to use ETF’s
• Dig into the current window of opportunity in Investment Trust Wind-ups
• Investigate what to read and what webinars/podcasts can help build your financial knowledge
• Take a look at some live markets to explain discussion topics
• Consider individual client needs to determine topics to be discussed
