Preparation to BA is designed to prepare International Students applying for a UAL undergraduate course. Students will familiarise themselves with life in London during the six week course.

Course Schedule

  • Week One – Two: Briefs comprised of a series of short introductory tasks followed by a longer brief to prepare you for methodologies used within UAL BA study. These weeks are preparatory for the final 3 weeks of the course.
  • Week Three – Six: Individual Study For the final three weeks of the course you are asked to define your own area of study. It is suggested that you work in a discipline that is challenging and exploring your intended BA specialism. You are expected to be exploratory and experimental in your approach. The work you produce will be assessed and shown in the final week of the course. As a starting point you are asked to write an individual programme of study, this will set out your aims for the project. A copy of this will be handed in at the start of the project, when you will also make a short presentation of your intentions.

  • How can I make a booking? Online via our website. Or, if paying by BACS, you will need to complete the online booking form.
  • Do I need an offer before applying to the Preparation course? No, you can also apply to the Preparation course if you do not have an offer to a full time UAL course, you can make a direct application* by submitting the following documents to portfolioprep@arts.ac.uk.   • What documents must I provide with my booking? Once we receive the following documents, we will check that you are eligible to study this course and send you an email confirming your place.
    • A copy of your passport
    • A copy of the required IELTS (or equivalent)
  • When is the deadline to submit my booking? Bookings will be accepted up to one month before the start of the course. Please read section 8 of our terms and conditions carefully with particular attention to our refund policy.
  • When is the final date of enrolment? The final date for enrolment is on the first Monday, one week after the start of the course.
  • Do I receive an accredited certificate on completion of the course? No, a certificate of attendance will be issued on completion of the Preparation course.
